Yokohama ADVAN on Formula S2000 YOKOHAMA ADVAN GRIPPING STUFF

Media information, 2 June 2007

Official tyre supplier Yokohama had their work cut out in yesterday's qualifying for round three of International Formula Master (IFM) thanks to the changeable Pyrenees weather conditions in Pau, France.

The morning's two practice sessions could not have been more different with the first session taking place under torrential downpour, enabling IFM drivers to experience the wet ADVAN tyres for the first time, whilst the second 30-minute practice took place in drying-out conditions with the South of France sun shining throughout.

The sun remained for the afternoon's qualifying which was split into two equal sessions, allowing drivers to post their times without being hindered by traffic on the narrow street circuit. Times tumbled throughout both sessions, showing the Yokohama ADVAN?x2019;s consistent performance, with Germany's Maximilian Goetz claiming pole position with a time of 1:12.165.

"The morning's rain was very sudden and completely soaked everything," said the ISR driver.
"I know that the dry tyres are really good, they have been so consistent so far this season that I should have expected the same from the wet tyres but I was still surprised by how good they were. I think Yokohama is doing a great job for all of us."

Yokohama Europe Marketing Manager Kazuyoshi Sekiguchi followed the Series progress throughout the day and was happy to comment on the day's performance.

"The weather conditions were extreme," said Sekiguchi.
"However, we have yet again shown that whatever the weather conditions, Yokohama ADVAN is as strong a product as its reputation suggests. I am really pleased for the Yokohama engineering team who has worked so hard on developing both the wet and dry tyre for IFM.

"Yesterday saw the first outing of the wet ADVAN tyre for IFM and its performance further enhances the Yokohama ADVAN brand, as a tyre you can rely on!"
