Formula S2000s on track with ADVAN wet tyres
ADVANS DELIVER FOR BONANOMI

Media information: 28 July 2007

Yokohama ADVAN's wet weather tyres proved their worth in Anderstorp, Sweden yesterday for International Formula Master's (IFM) qualifying session which saw Marco Bonanomi claim the top spot.

With heavy rain falling on the Scandinavian circuit throughout the morning, the entire IFM grid took to the track with ADVAN wet weather tyres, consistently improving their times as the session went on.

Pole-setter Marco Bonanomi used the Yokohama grip to his advantage, posting the pole time of 1:38.946 as the tarmac was drying followed by Italy's Frankie Provenzano in second and The Netherlands' Chris van der Drift in third.

"Today was our first time in pouring rain and I'm glad we had good tyres," said Bonanomi. "With the track drying out, they connected beautifully to the ground and the lap-times tumbled. I had pretty good grip throughout the session though when you consider how much standing water there was on the track!

"The tyres responded immediately and I could get a really good feel from the car thanks to them. That meant that when the crucial last few minutes arrived, I knew I could trust the ADVANs to deliver grip and was able to push."

No less than eight drivers featured at the top of the timesheets during the 30-minute session, showing the ADVANs ability to adapt to each car and driver worked as well in the wet as they would in dry conditions.

"Anderstorp has been under heavy downpour for nearly a month now," said Yokohama Europe Motorsport Manager Matthijs Mathlener. "With the surrounding grounds saturated by so much rain, it is very easy to have a substantial amount of water on the track but the IFM drivers delivered a stunning performance today despite the conditions.

"Our job is to make sure that they are given the right tyre in the right environment and seeing so many driver changes throughout the session with huge improvements in lap-times shows that we did just that."
