Hatsune Miku GoodSmile BMW totally dominated the GT300 class of Fuji Sprint Cup by winning both Race 1 and 2. The ADVAN equipped car topped off their championship crown with a clean sweep in the season closing event.

The qualifying session for Race 1 was hit by heavy rain. Nobuteru Taniguchi in the Hatsune Miku BMW kept improving his time up to 1'53"857 through the session and secured the grid on the front row, being only second to his main rival in the championship fight. Behind them, Kota Sasaki in R&D Sport Legacy B4 took the fourth grid and, at the end of the session, as many as eight ADVAN equipped cars got into the top ten.

Because of the bad weather, the qualifying session for Race 2 was postponed to the early morning - 7:50 a.m. - on Saturday. The track was still wet and both of the air and surface temperatures were quite low. The conditions brought down a tricky situation for the teams in choosing tires and the shortened session time - 20 minutes to 15 - made it more challenging.

While not a few drivers started with slick tires, the session was led by those who picked rain tires from the beginning. Eventually, 'triple a' Vantage GT2 ended the session in second and Evangelion RT Test Type-01 Apple Shiden in fourth and all leading cars in this session, including Corolla Axio apr GT and Hasepro MA Iwasaki apr Corolla, were running on wet tires.

The weather got a little warmer and the track was completely dried when the GT300 class' Race 1 began at a quarter to one afternoon. At the start, Taniguchi made a great getaway from the second grid and made the most of his car's speed on the straightaway to lead the field when they entered the first corner.

With an overwhelming early pace, the BMW driver instantly pulled away from the field and soon built an eight second gap with the car running in second. However, Tomonobu Fujii driving a Porsche closed in from behind in the second half of the race and finally overtook Taniguchi at the last corner of the final lap. It seemed the game was over. But Taniguchi got a slipstream of Fujii's Porsche on the following straightaway and just managed to cross the finish line a fraction of a tenth earlier than Fujii did! This dramatic victory was the icing on the cake for their newly acquired championship title crown.

The weather was fine on Sunday and the GT300 class' Race 2 got underway at ten past two afternoon. Unfortunately, 'triple a' Vantage GT2, which was to start the race from the front row, wasn't there on the grids due to a transmission problem.

Manabu Orido in RIRE Lamborghini RG-3 made the best start among the leading cars and jumped up to third from the seventh grid. Meanwhile, Taku Bamba in Hatsune Miku GoodSmile BMW was also in hot pursuit from the 12th grid and quickly caught up on the group fighting for third when they entered Lap 3. Then he passed all cars in the pack and moved up to third on the straightaway on the next lap.

His pursuit didn't stop there. Bamba gained one more position on Lap 6 and finally took over the lead position by making a move on the straightaway again. After that, he continued to expand the gap with the rest of the field and claimed the second win for the GoodSmile team in this event, following the victory earned by Taniguchi the day before.

Driver's Voice
Nobuteru Taniguchi
 [Result : 1st. in the Race 1]
"I tried to play a dramatic close finish on the final lap. No, just kidding, of course (laugh).
"I chose the softer tires and tried to manage them to last until the finish but I had vibration from the tires with five laps to go and my outlook wasn't so good. I was desperate to defend the lead position and I actually lost it once. But our BMW Z4 is the king on the straightaway, as you saw.
"Bamba soundly fulfilled his role in Race 2. He had a perfect race, I would say.
"This year, I won many races in all categories I drove and got a few championships, thanks to the tremendous help from the people around me. This was certainly one of the best seasons of my whole racing career."

Taku Bamba
 [Result : 1st. in the Race 2]
"Before starting my qualifying attempt which was run on the damp track, I was elated and thought 'If you're a man, you should go with slicks!' But there was much more water on the track than I had expected. I realized there's no way only after two laps but I didn't have time to change the tires already... It was a wrong call from me.
"There was some pushing and shoving battles in the early stage of the race. But I stayed cool every time my car was hit by someone and I managed to move up through the field to the lead position, just as I had imagined beforehand.
"This past season was definitely the best of my career so far. As the teammate of Taniguchi-san, I was given great opportunities to learn a lot of important things. Last night, he even showed me his on-board video and told me how to use the tires. This helped me very much to have a mental picture of the race and the image just came true!
"I had such a productive season this year. I am truly grateful to everyone who helped me."

Engineer's Voice
Jun Arakawa
"For the GT300 class, there was no development for this particular event. So we provided the same tires that we used for the championship's final round but they looked to perform well under the conditions of this extra round.
"We were glad to see Hatsune Miku GoodSmile BMW won both races. It just couldn't be better for us."
"The entire schedule of the season ended with this event. It's reassuring for us that one of the ADVAN equipped cars brilliantly won the GT300 championship title this year."
